Company
Profile
The demand for
quality live entertainment has grown exponentially over the last decade.
Evidence of this is found in increased attendance figures for all forms
of live entertainment. The
presentation of large-scale Broadway musicals (Les Miserables, The Phantom of
the Opera, The Lion King and Hairspray, Chicago, High School Musical and Beauty
and the Beast) has drawn new theatregoers across the country.
At the same time, the cost of the presentation of these shows has limited
the ability to tour all productions throughout South Africa.
Due to the expected further
increase in growth in theatre attendance and the demand for adequate,
state-of-the-art theatre buildings, the company believes that it is well placed
to take advantage of the commercial spin-offs in the live entertainment
industry.
While the company will remain focused on its core business, it will, from time
to time, investigate other opportunities in areas related to the live
entertainment industry. International
opportunities will also be explored.
FIRST STAGE seeks to raise capital for the purpose of building capacity and
infrastructure as a further strategic step that will allow the company to raise
capital in support of its vision of becoming a prominent player in the live
entertainment industry. Ultimately,
a listing is envisaged so as to enhance the company’s ability to raise capital
for further capital expenditure and strategic acquisitions.
The enhanced profile as a company with an investor spread will raise public
awareness as to the company’s activities and specialised skills
The
touring of productions is a potentially lucrative area of income, but the
inherent high costs have to be well considered before any production goes on
tour. Particularly in South Africa,
with its large rural areas, there exists a need for quality live productions to
tour these regions. Unfortunately,
artists are no longer keen to be away from home for long periods of time.
FIRST STAGE will have to develop lucrative packages for artists who are
in fact prepared to tour for three, six or nine months at a time.
